Stealing days back

Stealing days and post titles from All horse stuff.

When the weather is nice enough in any given day -right now- "We steal it back from winter" to go riding!

It was such a beautiful day today. I didn't think I was going to be able to ride because I had an extra barn to stop at but that fell through so I came back, saddled up and went for a ride, my compact camera in tow.

Come along for the ride! (Make sure to pause my playlist first and hear one of my favorite songs in the video)

I almost ate dirt in the making of this video.
Shortly after the gallop in the video we were going through the tall grasses on the field to the right. I was looking down at the camera when Indigo had a "get the hell out of dodge" moment. I sure didn't even have a second to know what the heck Indigo was galloping sideways about let alone see the deer as we were basically going in the other direction. When I stopped her 30 or so feet later, clinging onto her barrel sideways I planted my feet on the ground and looked to see three white tails bouncing off. The reason Indigo spooked so hard was normally deer run away from you. These deer ran sideways, pretty much in our direction. Soon she realized they were indeed not killer deer and snorted a few times before I got back on and we resumed our ride.

To think I was thinking as I haltered her in the barnyard "I haven't seen any deer in a couple days" Boy was I wrong.

Deer just might be the death of me.

Oooh! Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing your ride with us. And I love that term "Stealing Days". I was just reminded of it when I read Tammy's blog over the weekend. I think you'll get a kick out of her first photo....it's right up your 'alley' and related to your post today. lol!
Her post:

She stole some days from winter, too :)

Love the music, too. Michael Martin Murphey is one of my most favorite music artists. That song is very special. He actually lives in New Mexico and I saw one of his concerts in Red River, NM about 10 years ago. He wrote a ballad about the Land of Enchantment, too. Loved it!

What an exciting post! Please tell me about your compact camera. Maybe you already posted about it - don't repeat - just point me to the post. I need a new small camera for riding.

oh, and I forgot - I had to mute the music because I cry when I hear "Wildfire" - too sad. It worked out well, though, because Neil Young was on the playlist which was wonderful too with the video!

Oh...yea...I cried the whole way through the song-like Jules would have!
I still sang it at the end...like I always used to as a girl, with a pony..I have the L.P. album!
Lovely SUNNY ride there...your Indigo's ears- really told you what for as you began to canter!
Glad you stayed on for the deer fiasco! Man...the tie you think that you're safe...ahem, that's the time BEWARE.

I sure hope someone else takes the name... and runs with the blog-post..Tammy-me-you and then- someone!!
Be cute too...if they all linked back to ALL these posts about the FABULOUS RIDING WEATHER we are STEALING BACK!
Tehehe!

As I sit here warming up from the sub-zero trip to the barn where I dug out huge snowballs from the boys' feet, I really enjoyed the ride with you. What a pleasant interlude to winter!
One can never tell about drain pipes. We have one around here, too. Ya know, they could just suck a horse down in seconds flat!
Great music!

Glad you guys liked it though I wish I wouldn't have hit to stop recording. I guess for another time. When her ears were back we were galloping, the wind was picking up but it was not cold. Very nice.

Thanks for bringing us along for your ride. It was fun watching all of you: Indigo, you, and your two shadows. Indigo reminds me so much of my Annie, even to the mane on the left side of the neck. You did well holding the camera and riding along.
