(almost) wordless Wednesday

Is this a sign that winter is gonna hit us hard and fast?
I mean look at the furry ears this Angus has.And the freshly dusted freshly cut corn silage nose. I think I want one. The cow, not the corn silage on my nose.

I've scraped frost off my vehicle's windows the last three mornings in a row. At 6 am it's pitch black. At 7:30 its sorta getting light and by 8 am the sun is still too low for my sun visor to prevent me from getting blinded when I drive.

Is it possible to have the winter blues before winter has even hit? Brrrr.

I second that! I'm already tired of winter, and we're still getting highs in the 60's! I am not looking forward to all those 0 degree days....

I want a calf, too. It's a (now not-so) secret obsession of mine :)

That's so weird to hear because we've been having very mild weather with temps only getting down to the lower 40's at night and staying above 50 during the day. Usually by October we've had our first snowfall and lots of strong wind, but that's not the case...yet.
Heck, I've been keeping my windows open all day. That's rare for October and November here at 7,000feet elevation.

Of course, if I remember right, last winter was horrible for us, while you had a mild winter. I wonder if things will be switched around this winter.

I totally agree with you! We had snow on Halloween...there's about two inches of snow lying at my mother-in-law's place, just another 1000 feet in elevation above us...I especially hate that it's still dark when we get up to feed at 7, & dark when I get home after work to feed at 6! Luckily it's not yet cold enough for the water tank to freeze...sigh.

I was always taught to predict the severity of winter by how soon the leaves fall off the trees, but I guess the fuzziness of a cow's ears works too. Nature's earmuffs.

Do you do daylight savings time up there? We have one more day to go and then the time will change and I'll be able to actually see what I'm doing every morning before work. I am absolutely NOT enjoying myself feeding by flashlight *grin*.

Yes we do have daylight savings time. I am on Eastern time so it's on Sunday (7th of Nov) Unfortunately that means the sun sets sooner though which means less work done for me :C
