With a week away until my big trip to Ireland I am posting somee information on the Slieve Aughty center, the place I am going. For those of you wishing to take a "bitless" horseback vacation this is the place to go.

Bitless Riding Holidays for Adults & Families

At the Slieve Aughty Centre, thought and care have gone into creating a relaxing, peaceful place to re-energize your mind, body, and soul. For over 25 years, we have provided memorable horseback riding experiences for people of all ages, exploring over 2000 acres of forest and providing quality instruction in the sand arena and on the cross country course.
Immerse yourself in tranquility and beauty as you pass under the shelter of tall trees, through gentle flowing streams, and over scenic country roads, each day exploring a different area. In the evening, relax in our cozy accommodation with a fresh Guinness, and satisfy your appetite with savory home-cooked meals made with fresh, organic ingredients from our garden.

A week long riding holiday includes:

· 3meals a day
· Accommodation in our 4 star guest house or local B&B
· 6 days of horseback riding (18 hours total)
· Optional English language lessons at an additional cost
· Option for one or more dressage, showjumping, or cross country lesson
· A full day of riding with a picnic lunch
· Access to other activities such as walking, cycling, golfing, clinic’s
and more


From small ponies to large hunter-type horses, we have over 35 well-trained, experienced equines waiting to introduce you to the wonders of the Irish countryside. Most of our horses are ridden in the Nutural Bitless Bridle. Riders are assigned to a horse or pony by our knowledgeable staff to create a safe, relaxing ride for you. Guests prepare their own horses each day to gain experience caring for and developing a relationship with them. The programme is designed to expose riders to different types of horses and ponies at an appropriate level of challenge.

Riding Holidays:

Adult and Family Riding Holiday (Full board including 15-18 Riding Hours per week)
Adults: 885,- extra day: 126,-
Students (until 25 Yrs): 750,- extra day 107,-
Children (under 18 Yrs): 650,- extra day: 93,-
