Sunday stills: Controls

Of course when I read the title and description the first thing I thought of was driving lines when I am driving my horse, but it is supposed to be controls of an inanimate object. Drat.

Luckily theres an abundance of tractors and all sorts of machinery around here to take the wheel of. I come from a small town where a traffic jam is four cars behind a tractor. Quite literally the other day as I rushed off for my last exam and got stuck behind a massive John Deere with a plow on the back. You learn to appreciate big machines here. Living in a farming community theres never a shortage of large tractors, backhoes, lawn mowers you name it. Big machines is what it's all about, and corn and wheat and cows and manure and stuff.

This beast however has not moved in over a year. It's been sitting outside in the rain. The rusting bright blue paint sticks out like a sore thumb yet kind of compliments the colour well.

This isn't a tractor but an old beat up Woody's Jeep. My dad tells me stories of him and his friends finding one abandoned in the woods at their hunting spot, fixing it up and using it for a few seasons.
Who can tell me what this controls? I know someone who would know for sure. I'll give you a clue, it can dig big holes and might be related to a monster

Eugh look at the oil all over the shifters. It's got a bad leak there there was oil all over the ground in the barn.

Oh...It's a Ford. No wonder.Isn't burning oil Ford's signature new car smell? Don't kill me, I joke, I joke. Seriously I drive more Ford tractors and cars than I let on. I just like to yank you Ford peoples chains thats all. You lot are just too easy to get going.

Of course it wouldn't be tractors and machines without a JD. Green and yellow for the win!
It's a medium sized tractor that turns on a dime. I love driving it and cutting grass with the stock shredder except the other day I caught my hat on a tree and it tossed it right under the shredder and chopped it into smithereens! I need a new hat I haven't got any more baseball caps :C Mine have all been lost when I bale hay or they have nasty sweat stains on them.

So there you have it, a peak at some big machines and controls. Gee this pretty much turned into a post about farm machinery didn't it?

your steering wheel looks like one of my control wheels, but it is not for a car.

Nice photos - sure wish I could sneak one of those machines from your blog to my backyard (our own little tractor has kicked the bucket :oP
I just read Thursday's post (missed it before as it was quite a week around here) and had a BIG laugh over it. Always nice to know we're not the only ones with four-legged miscreants who can't keep their muzzles out of trouble :o)

Thanks for the comments. Ed if you read the post of the monster it might be related to you should know. It's a "younger" brother to that one there.

Great photos, love the color! I've been missing color ever since winter started & turned everything brown & white, so much white!!!
A may pole is a way to celebrate spring returning, everyone has a piece of ribbon or rope and they dance or walk around the pole stuck in the ground, wrapping the ribbons around the pole.If you watch people who actually practice at it, it can be quite a show.
Btw, what's a rein board?

SYDNEY GAL~
I have something for YOU over at my place...and...
I called a farrier today, that is locator web page for "EASY WALKERS" shoes. He loved to talk, talk, talk...but I heard a caring man in there, that has trained the other man(in the web link for the "Easy walkers") I am glad I called him first. He has been working with vets lately and has nothing but good to say of the sports medicine shoes.
THANKS...gonna try them on her for JUNE...boots are sooo frustrating me, and I am sure Wa mare's gaits are hindered because of the clumsiness of them!

Okay...do have one question for you right off the top.
He recommends the pad use and hoof packing as well.
I think that would be good, since I do ride on large rocks...but the hoof packing stuff is icky...Iodine and stuff..I mean, I did look at that last time i went to the farrier supply and thought..whoa.
Thoughts Sydney?
I know something need to be in there to keep bacteria from rotting my mare's frog and sole. But?
KK
Thanks
